This is Cheechaw, our house spider. She sits serenely above us all and eats all of the nasty bugs that come around. I love her. I had to get up on a step-stool to take this photo and even then I had to lift my arms way above my head. I named her “Cheechaw” for no particular reason at all except that I call most wee sweet creatures “Cheechaw”. It’s a generic term of endearment which probably originated from Lindsay Bluth’s chicken dance.
Howdy, strangers! I forgot (again) how quickly these pile up when I run out of energy before I can post them each day. I will have to figure out another schedule. But here are some glimpses of the past week or so, plus a throwback photo my mom sent because last Wednesday I fell asleep before remembering to take a picture. [gallery ids=“93849,93851,93853,93854,93855,93856,93857,93858,93859” type=“rectangular”] Pretty much every workday starts out great and ends up with me being the tiredest person to ever tire.
This insect crawled around on the deck long enough for me to run back inside and grab my dSLR and macro lens. I took many photos but without my tripod only a few were usable. My usual floral subjects don’t move around so much. Upon first glance, I assumed it was a bee, but after some preliminary research I am not so sure. If you know, please tell me! [Update: Based on the tiny antennae and only two wings, I am fairly confident that this is a bee-mimic fly.
