hello 2007

The party last night was a success. I had a lovely time with my friends, and everyone seemed to like the food the MSG and I worked so hard on. On the final menu:

  • crudite of blanched watermelon radishes, Spanish radishes, broccoli, cauliflower, bell peppers and purple carrots with blue cheese dip and heirloom bean puree
  • turkey confit (cooked in olive oil with sage) served on a bed of baby mustard greens
  • truffled potatoes au gratin
  • chicken skewers with peanut dipping sauce
  • sauteed rapini with garlic
2006, in brief and in no particular order:

After 10 years in libraries, I decided to make the big move to web development, and did.

The MSG and I celebrated our third anniversary.

I watched the entirety of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel” and loved them both.

My friend Matt and I started podcasting.

Lara visited me. My dad and stepmom visited me. My mom visited me. I met two online friends, Brock and Nayad, for the first time offline.

I met several great people, including Shannon and Jonathan.

I lost a friend.

I traveled to Seattle, Chicago, Meadville, Sacramento and Mendocino.

I got my very first stitches.

I got a BlackBerry 8700c and an iPod nano.

I received more rejection letters for my work than in any previous year.

In 2007, I will travel to London on business and I will own a DSLR. I hope to have a short story published by this time next year. I also hope to return to Catalonia, to finish purging my life of things I don’t need, to see much more of my family and friends, and to be happy.
