stage plight

auditions for the shakespeare company are coming up very soon and i still haven’t picked my two monologues. eep. i am currently leaning on my old standby, titania’s monologue in “a midsummer night’s dream” (II, i, 81-117) because i’ve performed it before, but it’s not really a comedic monologue. also, i have to pick something from a tragedy for my contrasting one. or it should be from a tragedy, since the company is doing two comedies (“as you like it” and a non-shakespearean one) and a tragedy (“hamlet”). so the main one needs to be truly comedic. and i need to decide really really soon because of course these must be memorized. by the saturday after next. ack.

okay, you actor folks, i know you’re lurking. advice is needed.
