snail’s pace

after the light rain tonight, the snails were out in abundance around the steps of our old apartment. chad shined his little maglite on each one so i could crouch down and watch for a moment. their bodies looked silvery, translucent under their speckled shells, their homes. i wished i could be this self-sufficient, but not quite this slimy.

more moving was done tonight, and we’re still hoping to be completely out of the old place – including a thorough cleaning – by monday morning. i have never anticipated a monday before …
